Your new place has an existing home security system
Many times after you buy a house, you’ll see that the old owners left a security system. All the devices work, are installed in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this example, all you may have to do is to call and start a new service contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they may offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a quick visit, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time set-up fee to make the process easier. If the previous owners are moving to a condo or smaller home, transferring the home security service might be an addendum of the sale.
You need to move and take your old devices with you
You may need to take your favorite home security components with you to your new home when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as many components are plug and play. You can remove each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional installer to come and dismantle the system. Then an expert will put in the same devices -- and any new things you need -- in the new home. Your home security contract will remain the same.
